Meet the Team
Physiotherapist
Laura Ducharme, MScPT
Laura graduated with her Masters in Physical Therapy in 2010 from the University of Alberta. The large majority of her experience is in private practice in orthopedics. In the beginning years of her career, Laura spent a lot of time practicing and collaborating with orthopedic surgeons who trained and refined her assessment and diagnosis skills further. Her experience as a manager with CBI Health allowed her to develop the business acumen she needed to take the leap and open her own practice.
Laura and her husband, Dustin, moved to Vancouver Island in 2016 and opened Brightside Physiotherapy in Qualicum Beach. Brightside is a solo private practice where Laura offers one-to-one quality care. She relies on her expertise in Exercise Science and passion for patient education to develop comprehensive and thoughtful treatment plans for her patients. She has additional training in acupuncture, SFMA (Selective Functional Movement Assessment), “The Female Athlete”, manual therapy, and New Trends in the Prevention of Running Related Injuries through The Running Clinic.
In late 2021, she also became certified through GLA:D® Canada and will be starting her 3rd session with participants in September 2022. This 8-week, evidence-based program is for individuals diagnosed with Knee or Hip Osteoarthritis. Learn more here.
Laura and her Husband welcomed their son, Duke, in the Spring of 2019. Between juggling the demands of being a new Mom and maintaining her practice, Laura enjoys running, strength training, paddle boarding, kayaking, doing yoga and Pilates and spending time in the kitchen cooking healthy meals for her family.

Jennifer Macy
Jenn holds a Bachelor’s degree in Human Kinetics, with a concentration in Clinical Exercise Physiology, from the University of British Columbia. Much of her work experience to date has been with the BC Wildfire Service. Jenn first started working in a boots-on-the-ground role, as a firefighter with the BC Wildfire Service in Interior BC. Jenn is passionate about the importance of a personalized program, suited to an individual’s functional requirements and goals. Jenn is excited to further her knowledge through continuing education. Currently, she is in the process of becoming certified in offering Medical Therapeutic Yoga. She is looking forward to integrating the principles of Yoga into her practice.
